Shopping Networks

Greetings world,

Does anyone one but me ever watch these shopping channels and all of a sudden there it is the one thing that until that moment you never realized that you had to have? The one product that will not only make your life wonderful, make you feel good about yourself again but hey you can give it as a gift.

I was sitting at home the other night and thought to myself hey maybe I should turn on the shopping channels and see what they have (especially since I don’t have any gifts for christmas presents yet) for sale. When hey there was this really cool set of ten lip glosses that I thought my daughter would love. So thanks to the really quick world of internet shopping wa la it was comming to my home.

After watching for about two hours on and off and after only buying one item I thought well this was a good night. Didn’t spend too much money and now I have at least one gift to give out for the holiday. So off to bed I went.

But NO there on the screen telling me about what is comming in the next hour was this bed. So soft and just what the whole world needs to make them sleep better. You know how those sales people are. I thought well I might like to watch that so I set it to record.

After being in bed for about an hour I thought that I would wake up (never should have done this) and just for the heck of it I would see what the bed was all about. Hey it was pretty cool but kinda expensive. Maybe it might be great for some but I wasn’t sure. When here comes on this lady saying that she bought one of these and she now can sleep better then she ever has, this other lady says it’s like sleeping on a cloud. Well hey after all that I thought that I should open my other eye and watch more closely. When the channel says you can now have this for five easy payments BUT only until this item goes off the air. In about two minutes then you have to pay then entire amont.

OMG I thought. Gotta have this. So off to the computer I went and Now in three weeks I am going to be on a cloud. The best bed ever made.

But the one thing that kills me now that I am awake the next morning is how the hell am I going to afford this. They are really good salespeople and make these things so great. I just wonder if anybody else has this addiction of watching from our easy chair and spending way too much money. It’s like waking up in the am and having a shopping hang over and running to the internet site and checking you bank account to see just how much money you now don’t have left to pay all the other bills with.

Paper Work

October 22, 2005 at 10:26 am | In Thing in Life that make you go hmm | Leave a Comment

Greetings world. Here we are another weekend. Time to do the chores that we didn’t have time to do during the week, like mow the yard, trim the trees for the winter, clean the house, etc. You get the idea.

My thought on all this is work! Has anyone but me become so overwhelmed with their paperwork load? I mean all that paper work that must be done by hmmm I don’t know YESTERDAY. Seems like paperwork is all I do these days.

THere is paperwork for this project, paperwork for checking up on that project, then the eternal paperwork on the numbers. Then you have to choose which program to use to show all the numbers. You can use Excel spreadsheet or now the Open Office program. OMG so many choices so little time.

Right about the time I think wow I can now take a break, Oh NO here comes the mail. Then we have to deal with don’t shread this document, then you better shread that one or else someone will dig in the trash and find info from it. What the hell kind of people dig in the trash anyway? Can you imagine that someone might want your old paperwork that you didn’t want to do in the first place. Maybe we should just let them come in and do the paperwork for us. Then we could save them time by not making them dig in the trash for it later.

So much paperwork and never enough time for just sitting and watching the sun rise (when was the last time you actually sat and watched that?) or set in the evenings. And right now the sunsets are totally beautiful.

What do you say we just say to hell with the paperwork today and sit back and relax for an entire day because Hell we just want too.

Dell????????????

I happen to own three dell computers. And have used them for years. But over the last I guess two years I have noticed how the computers have been working (or should I say not working) worse and worse all the time. Their tech support used to be the best. I own XPS systems so  I could call and talk to someone who I could understand.

That is until lately. Now no matter what, I get these people that I hate to keep saying EXCUSE ME can you repeat that I just can’t understand what you said. The tech support is just horrible. They constantly argue with you and make you do things that you have already tried.

My complaint is that why can’t we talk to someone from our own country that has ( I don’t know) a texas accent? Since that is where the computer is from. What a concept.

Has anyone else had problems or complaints they might like to share?

Ipod’s

October 11, 2005 at 10:38 am | In Computers | Leave a Comment

I have been inundated lately with sites saying to buy their music for downloading and for ipod’s. Am I the only person on earth that doesn’t have an ipod? I own a Treo 650 with a 512mg card in it so that I can download music but no ipod.

If I go to Real Player I can keep and play the music I buy and play it on my device. But here goes the dumb thing, I pay for Musicmatch so that I can listen to their music, but if I buy it I can’t play it on my device, same with Windows Media player. OMG what a racket. I love music like the rest of the world but can’t any ONE site give us what we want for all devices and not have license problems in the mean time?

Seems that every site I go to says their music is better then the other guys. Also is the pod casting the only way to get news and info? What about the radio? Yes I am old. (well sorta) I was listening to Rush Limbaugh and here he goes now saying that if you subscribe  (the new big word) to his site you can now download him for listening later.

First of all why take the time and energy to pay to go to his site when you can just turn him on the radio? And secondly does the whole world pay and subscribe for everything these days. I am so sick of having to come up with ANOTHER password and put my info into each and every site that offers ANYTHING. Anyone else feel this way?

Chat Programs

October 9, 2005 at 12:44 pm | In Computers | Leave a Comment

The other night my daughter (10 years old) was talking non stop on the phone with one of her friend’s when I asked her if she wouldn’t rather be chatting (typing) on the computer. Since she and her friend had never done that before she just couldn’t have been happier with my idea.

Well the next thing I had to do was to ask her friends mom if I could show her how to register and download a chat program. To my surprise she said that was fine. Better that then having her talk and tie up the phone line all night.

First I set hers up then proceeded to set up my daughters. Before I knew it they were typing away. Completely freaked out by all the new and neat things (like smiley faces and the such) on the program.

For about two hours things were really peaceful until I began to think to myself. Hmmmm I sure do hope she dosn’t get into some chat site that isn’t right for her to see or to chat in. So I cheated. I went into her settings and made it impossible (for the moment anyway) for anyone except her friend to chat with her. Even though I know that when she gets more savy on this she will be able to change those on her own but for now I was at peace with myself.

I got wrapped up in chat programs when the computer was new. And I became addicted to them. Talking every night till the wee hours of the am. Actually building up a little community of friends that I had made online. We talked about everything. (and I do mean everything). Then I began to realize that I was neglecting my family and almost living a fantasy world online. After all we all know that everyone is only 21 and perfectly built online.

After I sat in my easy chair for a while last night I began to wonder “Have I done the right thing”. Does anyone else have advise on this matter they might like to share?

Politics?

October 7, 2005 at 9:53 am | In Uncategorized | 4 Comments

So has anyone heard about Condi Rice being put in the race for our next president, running against the other woman (Hillary Clinton)? Are we ready for the cat fight that will occur when our first time run for president is against two women? All I can say is I hope they at least cut their nails first. Another question is are we ready for a woman as president? Do you think that she will get the respect from the rest of washington not to mention the middle east to be able to get the job done?

Does anyone else feel that the president made a mistake trying to put this new other lady into the supreme court? Have you heard about her running the law firm that was indited and given the biggest court fine against her company?

Have you heard that she is the person who was monitoring the Texas lottery when they got into trouble? Does anyone else agree with me when I say that just as soon as congress gets to delve into her past screw ups that they are also going to open the door in Mr. Bush’s past also?

Did anyone else vote for Mr. Bush and slowy begin to relize that he isn’t the person that we thought he was? From his never vetoing a single SPENDING bill that goes across his desk to not having enough military troops AT HOME to help our own people. And don’t get me started on how he is going to put our country into financial chaos.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Background Check

October 5, 2005 at 10:35 am | In Thing in Life that make you go hmm | Leave a Comment

Can you believe the things that can be found on the internet? I was riding in my car the other day when this talk show person was interviewing a gentleman who’s subject was background checks on people.

He proceeded to tell us about several sites that know a hell of a lot of information about us that we may not realize that is out there for the public to view. I thought oh yea sure.

Well sure enough when I got to my computer I decided to take him up on his advise and type a few choice words into one of the search engines. OMG was I supprised!

Don’t ever think that on that one evening when you are feeling lonely that the info that  you might have typed to someone or that site that you joined for free just so that you could check out what it looked like won’t come up on search checks.

I am like everyone else when the internet was new and couldn’t wait to run home each night and see what new thing I could find to look at. After all aren’t we told that the internet is as diverse as our mind can think? I was. So I began to brouse all those sites that maybe I shouldn’t have. Yes I got an eye full but now the entire world can see what I was doing.

Just a word of advise. When you are alone on that quiet night and are looking for someone to chat with BE VERY CAREFUL it might not be worth an evening of fun, later when you are looking to find a job.

Employers these days use search engines to check out what kind of people they are considering hiring. Do you really want them to see all your information?

Dowloading Music

Has anyone ever paid for and then tried to download music and then told that they don’t have the License? I did it through Windows Media player. Several songs actually. Now what the f… am I going to do with this music which I see on my computer but can’t do a DAMN thing with?

Hell I guess that I am going to have to go to another site and pay again and hope this dosn’t happen all over again.

Can you believe?

Can you believe that the vatican just decided (just?) that they didn’t want homosexuals and gay women and men acting as decons for the catholic church? DUH???????

Can you say sodom and gomora all over again. OMG this is such a no brainer. That is if you read the bible.

What do you think?

Well?

Well here

P1010241.JPG

P1010230.JPG

we are another day. We somehow made it through the two hurricanes, the threat of nuclear bombings, the gas increases (and more increases daily) a new supreme court justice and yet we are still alive and able to count our blessings.

Mine just happens to be that I am not having to work for other people. Does anyone ever wake up and just hate being? Being pushed around constantly by your boss, by being pushed around daily in traffic going to and from that job?

So may things, so little space to write.
